Abstract
This experiment was conducted to find
out which anti-bacterial cleaner is more effective against the spread of
Escherichia coli. Two brand name cleaner were picked out which were Palmolive
antibacterial cleaner and Comet liquid gel cleaner. I hypothesized that
Palmolive cleaner will achieve greater result than comet liquid gel cleaner.
Filter paper disks were saturated with the cleaners and placed into the
petri dishes containing nutrient agar and Escherichia coli. The petri dishes
were incubated for 24 hours and the results then showed that Palmolive
cleaner is a better anti-bacterial cleaning agent than Comet. Since both
cleaners claimed not to re administer germs on sponges; this property was
tested. Three sponges were saturated with the two cleaners and then Escherichia
coli was painted on them. After an hour bacteria was not found on the sponges
proving that both do not re-administer germs trough sponges. The third
sponge served as the control. In conclusion my hypothesis was proved true
that Palmolive is a better anti-bacterial cleaner than Comet.
